I don’t talk too much about Calibre Ridge on this blog because most of my time and energy are spent working with programming at Liberty Plaza. However, now is a great time to post about the Arts Camp that just concluded over there (and that will be coming to Liberty at the beginning of August).
For those that don’t remember, TCHDC partners with Barebones Productions every year and, with support from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, puts on a two week youth program focused on arts and crafts. Barebones is a puppetting community, so several of their lessons involve the construction and performance of various puppet shows. This year’s focus was on Vietnamese Water Puppets. See the pictures below for Calibre Ridge’s own take on this traditional and ancient art form.
In addition to puppeteering, the children got to practice walking on stilts, working with paper mache, and marching in a parade. Let’s hope the camp at Liberty is just as succesful.
